« Pourquoi Dieu n’a pas pris quatre côtes d’Adam pour former d’elles quatre femmes et les amener vers lui ? » Kamba Kanté Kamba Kanté, une femme au foyer et mère de quatre filles, s’oppose aux deuxièmes noces de Bamori, son mari, un homme violent et obnubilé par l’idée d’avoir des garçons. Elle se bat seule contre la polygamie et la violence conjugale. Dans son combat, elle tombe dans le giron d’un marabout manipulateur. Elle accouche finalement d’un garçon. Mais, est-ce l’enfant de Bamori, son mari, ou de son marabout ? La venue d’un garçon dissuadera-t-il son époux de se remarier ?
Ibrahima Lanséni Coulibaly, alias BRICOUL, écrivain malien, est archéologue de formation, Maître de Conférences à l’Université des Sciences Sociales et de Gestion de Bamako. Il a déjà publié aux Éditions Tombouctou Un silence coupable (Prix Union européenne Premier roman 2019), Le corbeau blanc (Mention spéciale du jury du Prix Ahmed Baba 2020), Le poids du serment (Prix Massa Makan Diabaté 2021), Le destin d’Atoum (2022). Derrière le rideau est son cinquième roman.
'Why didn't God take four of Adam's ribs to create four women and bring them to him?’ Kamba Kanté Kamba Kanté, a housewife and mother of four daughters, opposes the second marriage of her husband Bamori, a violent man obsessed with the idea of having sons. She fights alone against polygamy and domestic violence. In her struggle, she falls into the clutches of a manipulative marabout. She finally gives birth to a boy. But is the child Bamori's, her husband's, or the marabout's? Will the arrival of a boy dissuade her husband from remarrying?
Ibrahima Lanséni Coulibaly, alias BRICOUL, is an archaeologist by training and a lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Management in Bamako. He has already published Un silence coupable (European Union First Novel Prize 2019), Le corbeau blanc (Special mention of the jury of the Prix Ahmed Baba 2020), Le poids du serment (Prix Massa Makan Diabaté 2021) and Le destin d'Atoum (2022) with Éditions Tombouctou. Behind the Curtain is his fifth novel.
