« Dar et Borj Mémoire de Sfax où l’histoire, l’émotion, la nostalgie d’une époque, le patrimoine matériel et immatériel se mêlent.
Ce qui est particulier est que les demeures soient décrites par les propriétaires ou leurs descendants et dans la langue qu’ils souhaitent pour qu’ils puissent s’exprimer confortablement et dégager le maximum de leur âme et émotion.
Pour ne pas tomber dans la monotonie de la traduction, nous avons jugé que nos textes (Samia Turki et Aida Zahaf) soient résumés mais souvent accompagnés d’une information complémentaire historique ou patrimoniale. (Une occasion pour les bilingue de lire toutes les pages du livre).
Nous avons également, intentionnellement réservé un chapitre « Demeures en péril » afin de choquer et pousser à plus de prise de consciences de la part des lecteurs.
Pour conclure, ce livre n’est ni un manuel d’histoire, ni un magazine sur les belles demeures, il est tout simplement la mémoire de Sfax à travers ses demeures. »

- Fondatrice du centre culturel Borj Kallel (à but non lucratif), point de départ de nombreuses compagnes de sensibilisation pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine matériel et immatériel.
- Depuis 2020 Coordinatrice générale des associations culturelles de Borj Kallel.
Samia Smaoui Turki
Professeur d’Histoire et Géographie, à la retraite depuis 2007.
- Directrice de collège puis chef de service au ministère de l’enseignement.
- Membre fondateur de l’association des anciennes élèves des lycées de Sfax, membre de l’association des amis des Musées, ancien membre du comité de la culture puis du bureau de l UNEFT Sfax.
- Secrétaire générale de l’association des amis des arts plastiques à Borj Kallel jusqu'à 2020. Impliquée dans la commission de sauvegarde du patrimoine au sein de Borj Kallel.
- Actuellement conseillère à l’espace culturel Borj Kallel Sfax.
"Dar et Borj, the memory of Sfax, where history, emotion, nostalgia for a bygone era and tangible and intangible heritage come together.
What is special is that the houses should be described by the owners or their descendants, and in the language they wish, so that they can express themselves comfortably and release as much of their soul and emotion as possible.
To avoid the monotony of translation, we decided that our texts (Samia Turki and Aida Zahaf) should be summarised but often accompanied by additional historical or heritage information. (An opportunity for bilinguals to read every page of the book).
We have also intentionally included a chapter on "Endangered buildings" to shock readers and raise their awareness.
In conclusion, this book is neither a history textbook nor a magazine on beautiful homes, it is quite simply the memory of Sfax through its homes.

- Involved in safeguarding the borj-s of Sfax since 1980.
- Founder of the Borj Kallel cultural centre (non-profit-making), the starting point for numerous awareness-raising campaigns to safeguard tangible and intangible heritage.
- Since 2020, general coordinator of the Borj Kallel cultural associations.
Samia Smaoui Turki
History and Geography teacher, retired in 2007.
- Head of secondary school, then head of department at the Ministry of Education.
- Founding member of the association of former pupils of Sfax high schools, member of the association of friends of museums, former member of the culture committee and then of the board of UNEFT Sfax.
- General secretary of the association of friends of the plastic arts in Borj Kallel until 2020. Involved in the heritage preservation commission in Borj Kallel.
- Currently advisor to the Borj Kallel Sfax cultural space.
