The tree dream
Como si de las distintas etapas de la metamorfosis de una mariposa se tratase, Andrea Salgado gesta un nuevo tipo textual en el que consigue articular tres estados narrativos diferentes: un cuerpo prisionero, el descubrimiento de una niña del mundo y de sí misma, y cómo una mujer dibuja los sueños de diversos árboles. Cada una de estas instancias literarias parece nacer y concluir para transformarse luego en algo distinto y transitar diversas aristas de la identidad latinoamericana. Aquí se narra como una forma de participar en la construcción de una identidad colectiva y de sus géneros, del amor como una suma de todos los amores, del padre y de la madre, de la violencia, de la muerte, de la urgencia de hacer un duelo
y de romper el silencio.
Andrea Salgado es una escritora, periodista y profesora de escritura literaria de ficción y no ficción. Actualmente es la escritora residente del departamento de literatura y humanidades de la Universidad de Los Andes.
As if it were the different stages of the metamorphosis of a butterfly, Andrea Salgado creates a new textual type in which she manages to articulate three different narrative states: a prisoner body, a girl's discovery of the world and of herself, and how a woman draws the dreams of various trees. Each of these literary instances seems to be born and conclude to later transform into something different and go through different aspects of Latin American identity. Here it is narrated as a way of participating in the construction of a collective identity and its genders, of love as a sum of all loves, of the father and of the
mother, of violence, of death, of the urgency of doing a duel and to break the silence.
Andrea Salgado is a writer, journalist, and professor of fiction and nonfiction literary writing. She is currently the writer-in-residence of the department of literature and humanities at the Universidad de Los Andes.
