Este libro narra la historia de una mujer, hija de exiliados y sobrina de un victimario de la dictadura de Pinochet: Miguel Estay, “El Fanta”. Atrapada entre silencios, mentiras y verdades insoportables, busca construir su identidad. Aunque no vivió la dictadura, sufre sus efectos: una “resaca” histórica que marca a una generación heredera del trauma. Descendientes de víctimas y victimarios cargan con un pasado que no cesa. Esta memoria íntima y dolorosa revela el impacto persistente de la violencia en quienes nacieron después, haciendo de su relato una reflexión universal sobre el daño y la herencia histórica.
Verónica Estay Stange (México, 1980) es doctora en literatura, docente en París y activista por la memoria. Hija de exiliados y sobrina de un represor, integra colectivos por verdad y justicia.
This book tells the story of a woman, daughter of exiles and niece of a victimiser of the Pinochet dictatorship: Miguel Estay, “El Fanta”. Trapped between silences, lies and unbearable truths, she seeks to build her identity. Although she did not live through the dictatorship, she suffers its effects: a historical “hangover” that marks a generation heir to the trauma. Descendants of victims and victimisers are burdened with a past that does not cease. This intimate and painful memory reveals the lingering impact of violence on those who were born afterwards, making their story a universal reflection on the damage and historical legacy.
Verónica Estay Stange (Mexico, 1980) has a PhD in literature, teaches in Paris and is an activist for memory. Daughter of exiles and niece of a repressor, she is a member of collectives for truth and justice.
