يحتوي الكتاب على تقديم مكثف للشعراني يضيء به على رؤيته، ومنجزه في تأصيل وتطوير وتحديث الخط العربي كفنٍ قائم بذاته في ساحة الفنون التشكيليّة، بناء على قراءة نقدية مغايرة لما هو سائد حول تاريخه النظري، وتطوره الجمالي، وتجلياته الإبداعية. يضم الكتاب أكثر من مائة عملًا من اللوحات الخطّية التي أنجزها الشعراني بناءّ على رؤيته هذه، وبأسلوبه الخاص، بخطوط مختلفة منها ما طوره جزئيًا، ومنها ما نقله نقلة نوعية من حيث حروفه وبنائه، ومنها ما أعاد إحياءه من المسكوت عنه والمنسيّ، وقام بتطويره وتحديثه، أو أعاد خلقه من جديد بناء على على عدد قليل من الحروف لم يبق منه غيرها، وكانت دليله لاستكمال بقيتها منفردة أو في القطع والوصل، ولنشره واستخدامه في تشكيل أعمال ذات خصوصية جمالية، ومنها ماصممه مستلهمًا خصائص جمالية لعائلة من الخطوط كالمغربية ـ الأندلسية، استوحى من روحها خطًا هندسيًا جديدًا بالكامل.

مجدِّد في فن الخط العربي ومصمّم غرافيكي، تعلّم منير الشعراني الخط منذ سنواته المبكرة، وقاده شغفه إلى البحث في تطوره الجمالي، واستكشاف أسباب الجمود الإبداعي الذي أصابه بعد ازدهاره المتسارع في العصر العباسي. وبعد دراسته التصميم الغرافيكي في كلية الفنون الجميلة بدمشق، انصرف إلى تطوير الخط العربي وتحديثه والابتكار فيه، ليعيده إلى ساحة الفنون الجميلة كفنّ مستقل بخصائصه الجمالية الفريدة. أنجز مئات الأعمال وعرضها في بلدان مختلفة، ودعا الخطاطين إلى التجديد والابتكار، والخروج بوعي من أسر المحافظة والتقليدية نحو آفاق الحداثة والإبداع.
This book presents an intensive introduction by Mouneer Al-Shaarani, illuminating his vision and achievement in grounding, developing, and modernizing Arabic calligraphy as an autonomous art within the visual arts. It features over one hundred works that reflect his distinctive style: some scripts refined, others transformed, revived from near oblivion, or reconstructed into full systems of forms. He also created new scripts inspired by historical traditions such as Maghribi–Andalusian, designing a geometric script with a contemporary spirit. More than a showcase, the book embodies his innovative vision of calligraphy as a living, renewing art.

A modernist in Arabic calligraphy and a graphic designer, Mouneerr Al-Shaarani learned calligraphy at an early age, driven by a passion that led him to explore its aesthetic evolution and the reasons for its creative stagnation after its flourishing in the Abbasid era. After studying graphic design at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, he devoted himself to developing, renewing, and innovating in Arabic calligraphy, bringing it back into the realm of fine arts as an independent art form with its own distinctive aesthetics. He has produced hundreds of works, exhibited in various countries, and called on calligraphers to embrace renewal and innovation, moving consciously beyond conservatism and traditionalism toward modernity and creativity.
