Ambientado en el Chile de 1973, el relato se enfoca en los azarosos días de Ricardo Laval, un joven provinciano que llega a la capital, Santiago, para iniciar su vida universitaria. Al mismo tiempo que se sumerge en el bullente mundo estudiantil, se maravilla con la belleza de la ciudad y experimenta el amor por primera vez, también será testigo de lo que pequeños y grandes actores tienen que decir con respecto a estos momentos tan intensos como turbulentos. Sin embargo, un gran trauma se avecina: el golpe de Estado, la desaparición de su mejor amigo y el fin de sus ilusiones harán que se cuestione su lugar en el mundo.
Gracias a la historia “casi” autobiográfica de Fernando Letelier Baltierra y al dibujo de trazos exactos y documentados de Gianfranco Fortunatti Bustos, la novela gráfica Santiago 1973 logra recrear ante nuestros ojos esa ciudad antigua y vibrante, que muchos recorren en su memoria y otros tantos no han conocido directamente, y que es el espejo vivo de un país cuyos sueños, dolores y preguntas urgentes continúan pendientes hasta hoy.
Gianfranco Fortunatti Bustos es diseñador e ilustrador, con más de una década de trayectoria profesional. Es parte de XHTML y NOBOX y miembro del colectivo RelatoCiudad. Desde 2021, publica bimestralmente la serie “Desperdicio Militar Obligatorio”, con textos de Guillermo Reyes. En 2024 publicó junto a Patricia Casanueva Riquelme el cómic Invasión de Ciudad Villa Bigotes en Editorial Cafuné.
Fernando Letelier Baltierra es profesor de educación musical con estudios de castellano y tecnología. A parte de ejercer la docencia en diversas universidades nacionales en las áreas de historia y apreciación de las artes, ha sido libretista y productor de radio, gestor cultural, redactor publicitario y asesor de publicaciones, entre varias actividades más. Actualmente continúa desarrollando talleres y sigue ligado a la música como compositor. Como autor de ficción, ha publicado guiones de los webcomics. En 2022, su cuento Despierta obtuvo mención honrosa en el XXIII Concurso Literario Internacional Vitamayor, de la Corporacion Cultural Vitacura.
Set in Chile in 1973, the story focuses on the tumultuous days of Ricardo Laval, a young provincial boy who arrives in the capital, Santiago, to begin his university life. As he immerses in the bustling student world, marvels at the beauty of the city, and experiences love for the first time, he will also witness what small and large actors have to say about these intense and turbulent times. However, a great trauma looms: the coup d'état, the disappearance of his best friend, and the end of his dreams will make him question his place in the world.
Thanks to the "almost" autobiographical story of Fernando Letelier Baltierra and the precise and documented drawings of Gianfranco Fortunatti Bustos, the graphic novel Santiago 1973 manages to recreate before our eyes that old and vibrant city, which many traverse in their memories and many others have not known directly, and which is the living image of a country whose dreams, pains, and urgent questions remain unresolved to this day.
Gianfranco Fortunatti Bustos is a designer and illustrator with over a decade of professional experience. He is part of XHTML and NOBOX, and a member of the RelatoCiudad collective. Since 2021, he has been publishing the bi-monthly series "Conscription Wastefulness" with texts by Guillermo Reyes. In 2024, he published the comic La Invasión de Ciudad Villa Bigotes together with Patricia Casanueva Riquelme at Editorial Cafuné.
Fernando Letelier Baltierra is a music education teacher with studies in Spanish and technology. In addition to teaching at various national universities in the areas of history and art appreciation, he has been a scriptwriter and radio producer, cultural manager, copywriter, and publication advisor, among many other activities. He currently continues to develop workshops and remains connected to music as a composer. As a fiction author, he has published a few scripts for webcomics. In 2022, his story “Despierta” received an honorable mention in the XXIII Vitamayor International Literary Contest, organized by the Vitacura Cultural Corporation.
