Dones de la muntanya és una novel·la gràfica retrat del món rural i pagès pirinenc, amb mirada de gènere. És el diari d’una científica social-natural i activista ecofeminista, Federica Ravera, que recorre el Pirineu per conèixer la ruralitat d’alta muntanya. Un diàleg bonic entre la ciència i l’art, on la protagonista, amb contradiccions d’urbanita i una curiositat ingent, escolta les dones parlar de les problemàtiques que assolen la pagesia i dels beneficis de la ramaderia i
agricultura d’alta muntanya. Unes veus, les de les dones de la muntanya, que descriuen els seus rols i contribucions, les discriminacions i els sexismes, i les dinàmiques de poder que encara perduren en la nostra societat. La il·lustradora i artista plàstica Martina Manyà ha sabut crear en la novel·la un imaginari precís, humanista i natural a la vegada.
Federica Ravera és investigadora al Departament de Geografia de la Universitat de Girona. Amb una formació socio-ambiental i un bagatge d’estudis i activisme en el món rural i l’agroecologia, fa recerca principalment en àrees de muntanya, en temes de gènere i amb una mirada (i un sentir) ecofeminista. La seva vida personal i profesional es mou de forma transhumant entre Barcelona, Girona i el Pallars Sobirà, darrer lloc on troba el seu refugi.
Women of the Mountains is a graphic novel that portrays the rural world and the Pyrenean peasantry, through gender perspective. It is the diary of a social-natural scientist and ecofeminist activist, Federica Ravera, who travels the Pyrenees to learn about the rurality of the high mountains. A beautiful dialogue between science and art, where the protagonist, with the contradictions of an urbanite and an enormous curiosity, listens to women talk about the problems that plague the peasantry and the benefits of livestock farming and high mountain agriculture. Voices, those of women from the mountains, who describe their roles and contributions, the discrimination and sexism, and the power dynamics that still persist in our society. The illustrator and visual artist Martina Manyà has managed to create in the novel a precise, humanistic and natural imaginary.
Federica Ravera is a researcher at the Department of Geography at the University of Girona. With a socio-environmental background and a background in studies and activism in the rural world and agroecology, she conducts research mainly in mountain areas, on gender issues and with an ecofeminist perspective (and feeling). Her personal and professional life moves in a transhumant way between Barcelona, Girona and Pallars Sobirà, the last place where she finds her refuge.
