A Festive Fervor
Un festivo ardor es una colección de cuentos que, con mirada barroca, celebra el exceso y la euforia. Entreteje deseo, arte y transgresión en relatos donde un joven obsesionado con ángeles arcabuceros y anime dibuja su mundo; un hombre mayor borda el último manto para una procesión; un colectivo trans reinterpreta el teatro colonial; y cuatro Túpacs travestidas escapan de un museo para desafiar el orden impuesto. Estas historias, desbordantes y provocadoras, invocan una procesión de imágenes que transforma la calle en escritura, como una iglesia saturada de símbolos que irrumpe con fuerza y sin miedo a revelarse.

A Festive Fervor is a collection of short stories that, with a baroque perspective, celebrates excess and euphoria. It interweaves desire, art, and transgression in stories where a young man obsessed with musket-wielding angels and anime draws his world; an elderly man embroiders the last cloak for a procession; a trans collective reinterprets colonial theatre; and four transvestite Túpacs escape from a museum to challenge the imposed order. These overflowing and provocative stories invoke a procession of images that transform the street into writing, like a church saturated with symbols that bursts forth with force and without fear of revealing itself.
Juan Carlos Cortázar studied sociology, public policy, and narrative writing in Buenos Aires and Santiago, Chile. He has published novels and short stories in Peru, Argentina, and Chile. He edited the anthologies Acento en la diferencia and Cortarse las manos. He lives between Lima and Santiago, Chile.
