Driss Jettou est un fils du peuple devenu homme d’affaires puis homme d’Etat au Maroc, sous les deux rois, Hassan II et Mohammed VI. Ni courtisan, ni franc-tireur, ni partisan, ni technocrate, il s’est frayé une trajectoire d’équilibriste, même en devenant Premier ministre (2002 – 2007). Il a, de bout en bout, entretenu des relations avec la bourgeoisie (fassie, soussie, juive), la gauche, la monarchie, la Banque mondiale, les investisseurs, les syndicalistes et les grands décideurs de ce monde
Ce livre documenté, à partir d’archives reconstituées, prend la forme d’une biographie sociale et politique. Il raconte autant son parcours de vie que le Maroc contemporain (1970 – 2020) où il a agi, gouverné, prospéré sans rien perdre de son exigence éthique.
Driss Ksikes est écrivain, dramaturge, et professeur à HEM depuis 1996, où il dirige Economia, HEM Research Center, depuis 2007. Il multiplie les projets mettant l’art, la culture et le débat au cœur de la cité, et est l’auteur des Sentiers de l’indiscipline (2021).
Driss Jettou is a man of the people who rose to become a businessman and then a statesman in Morocco, serving under both King Hassan II and King Mohammed VI. Neither a courtier, nor a maverick, nor a partisan, nor a technocrat, he carved out a path for himself that struck a delicate balance, even whilst serving as Prime Minister (2002–2007). Throughout his career, he maintained relationships with the bourgeoisie (Fassie, Sousie and Jewish), the left, the monarchy, the World Bank, investors, trade unionists and the world’s leading decision-makers.
This well-researched book, based on reconstructed archives, takes the form of a social and political biography. It recounts both his life story and the history of contemporary Morocco (1970–2020), where he acted, governed and prospered without ever compromising his ethical standards.
Driss Ksikes is a writer, playwright and lecturer at HEM since 1996, where he has headed Economia, the HEM Research Centre, since 2007. He is involved in numerous projects that place art, culture and debate at the heart of the city, and is the author of Sentiers de l’indiscipline (2021).
