The eternal debt
La dette éternelle est une sonnette d’alarme qui dénonce non-scolarisation de la jeune fille, l’excision et le mariage forcé, en cours dans certaines régions de notre pays. Ce texte a le mérite de soulever la survivance des mentalités rétrogrades qui se cachent derrière la religion.
Le récit met en situation trois jeunes élèves issues d’horizons différents. Parmi elles, Mimitou qui paiera au prix fort une dette éternelle contractée par ses arrière-grands-parents. Si Aline et Aïcha réussirent à poursuivre avec succès leurs études, Mimitou finira dans les bras d’un vieil homme, déjà marié à trois femmes. Puis remarié, après le décès de son mari, au frère du défunt.
Kachou Sidibé
Kachou Sidibé est née à Man, dans l'Ouest de la Côte d'Ivoire. Très jeune, sa mère lui inculque la passion de la lecture. C’est donc tout naturellement qu’elle s’intéresse à l’écriture. La dette éternelle est sa première œuvre.
The eternal debt is an alarm bell that denounces the lack of schooling of the young girl, the excision and the forced marriage, in progress in certain regions of our country. This text has the merit of raising the survival of retrograde mentalities that hide behind religion.
The story puts three young students from different backgrounds into a situation. Among them, Mimitou who will pay a high price for an eternal debt contracted by her great-grandparents. If Aline and Aïcha manage to successfully pursue their studies, Mimitou will end up in the arms of an old man, already married to three women. Then remarried, after the death of her husband, to the brother of the deceased.
Kachou Sidibé
Kachou Sidibé was born in Man, in western Côte d'Ivoire. At a very young age, his mother instilled in him a passion for reading. It is therefore natural that she is interested in writing. The Eternal Debt is his first work.
