The Escape
Útek je správou o fantastickej ceste malého chlapca a jeho psa Alana naprieč mestami, krajinami a kontinentmi, na ktorých sa hrdinovia príbehu stretávajú s priateľstvom i odmietaním. Obyvatelia miest sú zosobnením vlastností, ktoré vedú k predsudkom, k odmietaniu čohokoľvek cudzieho a k pohodlnému ospravedlneniu svojho nezáujmu o osudy iného človeka. Dobrodružný príbeh je však aj príležitosťou nazrieť do sveta ľudí, pre ktorých je putovanie cez rozsiahle územia životnou nevyhnutnosťou, a to zvlášť v čase, kedy sa civilizačné pohyby stali témou číslo jeden aj u nás.
Marek Vadas debutoval roku 1994 prózou Malý román. Zbierka poviedok Zlá štvrť sa v roku 2019 dostala do finálovej destiatky prestížnej ceny Anasoft litera. Kniha pre deti a mládež Útek bola preložená do jedenástich jazykov.
The Escape is an account of the fantastic journey of a young boy and his dog Alan across cities, countries and continents, where the heroes of the story encounter both friendship and rejection. The inhabitants of the cities personify the qualities that lead to prejudice, to the rejection of anything foreign and the convenient justification of their disinterest in the fate of the other person. But the adventure story is also an opportunity to peer into the world of a people for whom wandering across vast territories is a necessity of life, especially at a time when the movements of civilization have become the number one issue even in our own country.
Marek Vadas debuted in 1994 with his prose novel Malý Román. His short story collection Zlá štvrť was shortlisted for the prestigious Anasoft Litera Prize in 2019. His children's and young adult book The Escape has been translated into eleven languages.
