So important in Greece as ignored outside this country, Miltos Sachtouris (1919-2005) 14 books and won three national awards. His poems conjugate horror and beauty, surrealism and expressionism, located between a desperate need for hope and a desperate certainty that there is no hope. In other words, they are very much like life itself these days. With the face on the wall, published by Sachtouris in 1952, after his military service, shows the Greece between wars, where the aesthetic atmosphere remembers nowadays fears and freedom. Greek expert and poet Natalia Figueroa (Chile, 1983) translates for the first time to Spanish a single book by Miltos Sachtouris.
