Muqu patapi
On the Hill
Seis relatos breves de Muqu patapi, se apoyan en lo cotidiano para explorar su relación con los animales sean estos Wayra, que el viento se llevó, unos perritos y una vaca lechera con nombre de santa, Martín que pudo ser el mejor regalo para el presidente Velasco y se comió otro perrito, una yunta de toros feministas que seguían a su guía sin distinción de género, y una excursión familiar a lavar ropa en el río donde la niña ve a través del umbral de lo sublime el espíritu que la protegerá por vida. Como flores que bordean flancos, base y cima de las laderas, desde donde se divisa que el horizonte de la narrativa quechua se ha ampliado, estos relatos breves acompañan al extenso Muqu patapi, que da título al libro. En estas historias, además de la memoria de lo cotidiano, vemos que cierto realismo simbólico y el recurso de la ambigüedad en la narrativa quechua está en buenas manos. Como en Wiñay suyasqayki, esta breve nota se ha hecho tras leer
sólo el original en quechua de los relatos, pero el monolingüe castellano o el bilingüe incipiente, tiene la opción de apoyarse y recurrir a la versión en español, que también fluye como agua de la colina, muqupatamanta.
Gloria Cáceres Vargas es poeta, narradora y traductora. Fue decana de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y
Humanidades de la Universidad Enrique Guzmán y Valle. Impartió las cátedras de quechua y español en diferentes universidades del Perú y de Francia. Ha traducido al quechua Warma Kuyay y otros cuentos(2011) de José María Arguedas. Ha participado en congresos nacionales e internacionales sobre literatura quechua, asimismo en recitales poéticos.
Six short stories by On the Hill rely on everyday life to explore his relationship with animals, whether they are Wayra, who was blown away by the wind, some puppies, and a dairy cow named after Santa, Martín, who could have been the best gift for the president. Velasco and ate another dog, a team of feminist bulls that
followed their guide without gender distinction, and a family outing to wash clothes in the river where the girl sees through the threshold of the sublime the spirit that will protect her for life. Like flowers that line the sides, base and top of the slopes, from where you can see that the horizon of the Quechua narrative has expanded, these short stories accompany the extensive On the Hill, which gives the book its title.
In these stories, in addition to the memory of everyday life, we see that a certain symbolic realism and
the resource of ambiguity in the Quechua narrative is in good hands. As in Wiñay susqayki, this brief note has been made after reading only the original in Quechua of the stories, but the Spanish monolingual or the incipient bilingual has the option of relying on and resorting to the Spanish version, which also flows like water from the hill, muqupatamanta.
Gloria Cáceres Vargas is a poet, narrator and translator. She was dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and
Humanities at the Enrique Guzmán y Valle University. She taught Quechua and Spanish classes at different universities in Peru and France. She has translated Warma Kuyay y otros cuentos (2011) by José María Arguedas into Quechua. She has participated in national and international conferences on Quechua literature, as well as in poetry recitals.
