1982 : Malena débarque à Gênes. Elle vient d’Argentine, où sévit un régime de dictature. Sous une apparente intégration, elle refoule au fil des mois les images d’un passé insoluble, qui régulièrement remontent.
2005 : Malena s’est installée en France avec Arnaud. Mais un jour de pique-nique familial, elle disparaît. Quand elle est retrouvée à des centaines de kilomètres, elle ne parle plus. À son chevet, l’homme aimant s'interroge : que sait-il au fond de son passé argentin et de ses secrets ?
1978 : À Buenos Aires, Romi craint son mari proche de la Junte. Ce qui se passe dans la chambre vire au cauchemar. Quand son enfant lui est enlevé, elle s’autorise à sortir marcher dans la ville, toujours un peu plus loin, jusqu’à la place de Mai où elle rencontre d’autres femmes, si libres...

1982: Malena arrives in Genoa from Argentina, ruled by a dictatorial regime. While she seems to be becoming integrated in her new country, she is also suppressing images from a past she can’t forget that regularly resurface.
2005: Malena is settled in France with Arnaud. But one day, she disappears from a family picnic. When she is found, hundreds of kilometres from home, she no longer speaks. At her bedside, her loving partner asks himself what he really knows about her past in Argentina and her secrets.
1978: In Buenos Aires, Romi fears that her husband is close to the junta. What happens in the bedroom turns into a nightmare. When her child is taken from her, she allows herself to go out walking in the city, each time a little further, until she comes to the Plaza de Mayo, where she meets other women, women who are free...
