Modjaji Books, started in 2007, is a small independent feminist press based in Cape Town. Our offering of a publishing space for serious and groundbreaking writing by new and established southern African women has contributed to turning around the historical marginalization of women's voices, particularly black women's voices in the region. We publish short stories, novels, memoirs, biographies, poetry, essays, narrative non-fiction, reference books and relevant non-fiction. All of our titles centre women’s lives, experiences and imaginations.
