Modjaji Books
We are a small independent feminist press. In 2007 we began publishing and filling a gap by providing a platform for serious and ground-breaking writing by new and established southern African women writers with brave voices. We publish short stories, novels, memoirs, biography, essays, narrative non-fiction, poetry, reference books and relevant non-fiction. The history of publishing here is enmeshed with the culture of resistance that flourished under apartheid. Struggle literature may have emerged from the underground, but women’s voices and particularly black women’s voices have been marginalized until recently. We’ve been part of changing that reality.
Language(s) of publication: English, Afrikaans (South Africa).
