La Cartonera was born in 2008, in Cuernavaca, Mexico. It has a diverse catalog made up of Mexican and international authors; with titles published bilingually (French-Spanish, Portuguese-Spanish, English-Spanish, Nahuatl-Spanish). Each cover is a unique colourful painting, made on cardboard, by artists and the public who attend his creation workshop at La Casona Spencer, in Cuernavaca. These artistic practices have allowed us to build collectivity and community around the editorial project. It is part of a network of cardboard publishers worldwide.
